Phlebology Research Lab

At the Phlebology Research Lab (PRL), we perform laboratory and clinical research. All clinical research activities have Ethics Approval from the St Vincent's Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee. Our aim is to improve clinical outcomes for patients and modifiying treatments to make them safer and more effective. PRL has a special interest in researching varicose veins with underlying coagulation abnomalies.

Our main areas of interest are researching the interactions of sclerosant with the coagulation system and researching dermatological conditions such as Purpuric Pigmented Dermatosis (PPD).

We perform specialised coagulation tests: ROTEM, Multiplate Analyser/Platelet aggregometry, XACT test.

Our laboratory is also involved in collaboration with the School of Fluid Mechanics at University of Sydney
