Pelvic vein studies (60 minutes)- This is used in the asessment of pelvic congestion syndrome and vulva veins.

This study is performed with you lying down. The Sonographer will use a normal ultrasound transducer as well as a trans-vaginal transducer to assess the pelvic veins and the vulva veins. You will need to fast for this examination for at least 6 hours prior to it. The Sonographer will run a transducer along your abdomen and pelvic area to assess all of the pelvic veins for pelvic congestion syndrome. The Sonographer will ask you to hold your breath or cough at different intervals of the scan. This allows us to assess the pelvic and vulva veins for incompetency and blood flow.

This is the position that the patient is in during the scan
